Chulalongkorn Memorial Day Celebration
Chulalongkorn Memorial Day is a public holiday in Thailand, but many businesses and stores in Thailand run as usual. Even so, most government offices, banks, and schools are closed so that some people in Thailand get their chance to enjoy a day off with family.
On this day, many people in Thailand lay wreaths at the Equestrian statue in Dusit District, Bangkok. It is believed that many buildings and structures in this part of Bangkok were built when King Chulalongkorn ruled Thailand. Thus, the architecture in this area has a mixed style of Thai and European or Western style. Some other people observe the day as a common holiday to get rest at home or have a vacation in some places of interest in Thailand.
