Public holidays in Indonesia are largely made of religious festivals such as Good Friday for the Christians and Eid al-Fitr for the Muslims. As a predominantly Muslim country, many Islamic festivals become public holidays in Indonesia.

Starting from 2014, the number of holidays in Indonesia increases to 14 with the declaration of Labour Day as Indonesia public holiday by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on May, 1st 2013. 2014 is the year of election in Indonesia. Therefore, there will be additional holidays for people in Indonesia to elect the future leaders of the country.
