Origin of World Water Day
The idea to celebrate World Water Day was proposed in Agenda 21 of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Brazil in 1992. World Water Day was promoted to remind people to use water efficiently since many people in some countries faced a great difficulty just to get clean water.
On 22 March 1993, the first World Water Day was celebrated and people were encouraged to be more efficient in using water. During the celebration of World Water Day, people are suggested to not use their taps or water hose since those equipments are likely to dump more water.
